Windows XP newsgroup posting sux, login means you start all over

So I come in here and I am trying to help based on my experience, right?

I find a posting with a title I know a couple of things and hit reply.

Oh, NO, now I have to login...

So I do.

But then I have to find the posting I was trying to help,
and by now I dont remember the title... NOW WHAT?

Why cant it take me to the same posting I was, after I login?

It gets worse:
After 5 minutes of searching, I found that posting,
got in and entered a detailed 45 line explanation for a possible resolution.
Then I click Post, and kaboom, this page is no longer available...

Now I have to find that posting again, and entered my solution again...

How come Microsoft hasnt provided a solution to all this trash?
If nothing, we are trying to help them create a better product!

Actually - you should just not use the Web Interface to a newsgroup... There
have always been better ways of accessing newsgroups than any web
interface... News readers. And although it is not a truly full-featured
newsreader - setting up Outlook Express is better than trying to utilize the
web interface. Also - if you need to search older messages - I suggest
Google Groups.

You don't know what you're doing. You need a Newsreader, not Outlook.

The reason you're having such problems is that you are using the web
interface to read this newsgroup--it's the slowest, clunkiest, most
error-prone method there is. Do yourself a favor and switch to a
newsreader, such as Outlook Express, which comes with Windows. See

I never said I used Outlook and I never did.

And regardless what I use, the fact is that this newsgroup here is
available via www which means people do access it via www.
Which also means microsoft should fix the problem it has here,
otherwise make it unavailable from www.

It has not been fixed and is unlikely to be fixed. It is often posted here
as advice *not* to use the web interface for the Microsoft newsgroups. Even
Microsoft suggess you use a newsreader and has instruction on setting up
Outlook Express accordingly.

You should use a tool better suited to utilize the server you are connecting
to - in this case - a newsreader.
You gain features, control and ease of use - and you don't have to pay a
dime (or technically - even have to install anything) to do so.

You're right. Microsoft's Web interface for these groups is abysmal, and
it doesn't appear that it will ever improve.

If you absolutely want to access these groups through a Web interface
(not recommended; Usenet is meant to be accessed via news readers as
others have mentioned), you should use Google Groups rather than
Microsoft.

But your experience will be much more pleasant if you use an actual news
client such as Xnews, Agent, Gravity, 40tude Dialog, Thunderbird,
Outlook Express, etc.

And since you *already* have Outlook Express, have a look at:

I agree completely. Unfortunately neither of those is likely to
happen.

But notwithstanding all of the above, it remains true that the better
way by far to participate here is by using a newsgroup, as I and
others have recommended to you.
