Greetings,
I have a problem with my network drives. Everyday at around 4pm, my
network drives disconnect and I cannot refresh them unless I shut down.

It's extremely annoying since I have work that needs to be done
involving files from these drives.

Anyways, this only started to be a problem when I upgraded from Windows
2000 to XP. Any ideas?

Thank you.

It happens to everyone. That same thing happens to me on a regular basis.
What I do first is pull out a network cable and plug it back in again, that
sometimes solves the problem. Or if that doesn't work I refresh the IP
number. If that doesn't work I go in on both computers and use the network
wizard to set up the SOHO again (for the 1000th time) .

Hopefully in Vista, MS will have found a way to stop Windows from constantly
losing the network settings.

Since it happens every day around 4 PM, you need to see what is
scheduled to occur at that time. Updates from various programs? A
script you made that runs? Etc. It is not normal to have the network go
down on a regular basis; this is not a trait inherent in Windows
networking. Something is happening then and you need to find out what
it is with deductive troubleshooting.

Some suggestions as to how to proceed:

1. When the problem occurs, start Task Manager and make a note of the
applications and processes that are running.

2. Do clean-boot troubleshooting:
