Windows XP Media Center Edition

I just purchased a Toshiba witht the XP Media Center
Edition 2004 O/S. Opening Media Player 9 I noticed that
after placing the cursor over one of the options in the
menu bar (i.e. File, Edit, View...) that it turns white
and stays white until I minimize the window. It happens
to any of the menu bar options if the cursor moves over
it. Can someone help me with the problem. I also
downloaded all the critical updates and drivers. I heard
that the first Media Center Edition had some bugs and
that the Media Center Edition 2004 took care of the major
bugs. How do I find out which version I have?
