Windows XP logon screen won't work

I recently reinstalled Windows XP using non-destructive
system recovery, but I won't let me log on. I click on my
name (Or any other name) and it says its loading my
settings, but then it resets, and shows all the names
again. I can't get passed that screen, even in safe mode.
What can I do? I have Windows 98 installed on the same
computer, can I do something from there?
