Windows XP Lockup Tshooting Advice Needed

Hi,

Got a Windows XP SP2 tablet that is locking up, generally while not
being used, requiring a hard boot.

Don't have any events, tho I am configured to log an event on a crash,
and no blue screen. It has been happening long enough that I don't
remember anything being installed between the good and the bad. MS
Anti-Spyware and Ad-Aware show my system as clean.

I've fiddled with the Toshiba power settings, lowering the processor
speed, setting the HD and monitor to not turn off. I've turned the
screensaver on, off, and to a different saver.

Defragger says a defrag isn't needed. Disk space is 7gb free on a 39gb
drive.

I'm not looking for an answer, I'm looking for troubleshooting
recommendations.

So, any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Please check Event Viewer for Warning / Error Reports in the System
and Application logs for the last boot and post copies.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools, and
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&sd=tech

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you should
double click for further information. You can copy using copy and paste.
Often the link will, however, say there is no further information.

(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click
on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now
start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This
will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report complete with links
into the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event
Viewer.

Err....

When I say "Don't have any events, tho I am configured to log an event
on a crash" I had hoped that was clear enough to show that I have
checked event viewer and don't have any events. Obviously not, but
thanks for trying.

What Event Types are checked in the Filter tab in Action,
Properties in Event Viewer?

For both Application and System:
Information, Warning, Error, Success audit, Failure audit.

And, to cut off next questions: Event Source is (All), Category is
(All), From is First Event, To is Last Event, and the first event in
the log is:
For Application: 11/30/2004
For System: 1/11/2006
(IOW, it's not like the error rolled out of the Event Log. The problem
happened last night around 830ish. I had a warning at 818 from LsaSrv
(a regular error when at home, that comes up hourly without incident)
in the system log, and an AutoEnrollment error from Userenv in the App
log (again, a regular error while at home, off the domain.)

It sounds like you are having hardware problems. Since tablets are
special, for the troubleshooting steps you want try posting in the
tablet newsgroup.
