Windows XP LastGood folder (& LastGood.tmp) disappear!

After a precautionary use of the sfc /scannow function to
restore system files, I noticed this niggle.
When I rebooted, I noticed that the windows LastGood folder (and
LastGood.tmp) had disappeared. (LastGood previously contained about 130mb of
files)
When I repeat the scannow function, the LastGood folder is restored with
130mb of files, but when I reboot, it again disappears.
I suspect that something has gone adrift in the registry - but I'm afraid
I'm no expert!
How can I permanently restore the LastGood folder (&LastGood.tmp) and
correct the registry or whatever so that they stay put when I reboot?
Thanx!

Hi Mark,

The last known good configuration is updated everytime you succesfully
logon. This is the reason why this folder keeps updating itself. It's also
the reason why people can't restore their settings with this option.
However, the LastGood folder is a dynamic folder and normally not visible to
the normal user. I don't know why SFC /scannow writes these files to disk or
makes these visible, but as it scans all the protected system files, it
might be this folder is seen as protected and system.

I hope this helped, or at least gave you a bit of background information.

Cheers,

Robert

Thanks very much Robert for replying and for the information.

Ah, so what you are saying is that these folders shouldn't really be visible
in the Windows folder and that it is the sfc /scannow function that is
making them appear.
Essentially then there is nothing for me to worry about and the last known
good configuration option will still be available to me whether I can see
these folders or not!
