Hello,
I have recently re-installed windowsxp (clean), the latest drivers for my
ati9600 (catalyst 3.8) the latest drivers for my sblive card.
When I'm playing movies or mp3's in Windows Media Player, Winamp, BPlayer,
etc., the computer freezes/lags for one second, making a bzzzz noise. Not
only the movie freezes, but all applications at the same time. I tried
disabling services (I have winxp pro), upgrading the bios of the
motherboard, didn't help.
My config: Via KM266 (Shuttle mainboard), Athlonxp 1700, 512MB RAM, 1 HDD
(ATA100 compatible), Plextor DVC-CDwriter combo, wireless Microsoft Natural
Multimedia Keyboard + mouse, Intellimouse explorer 3 (yes two mouses),
ATI9600, MonitorCTX960.
I read on some other forum that it normally should be a data transfer
issue... well the harddrive is on udma5 so this shouldn't be a problem, or
an issue of the integrated IDE controller (which I doubt since it was
working ok before the re-installation of the system).
Thank you,
Ioan.
