Not sure if this is the right thread to post this to, but
here goes. Was using my computer when the electric
company decided to shut off electricity. Was off for
about 10 minutes. When electricity came back on, I turned
my computer back on, and now cannot get to boot up. It
boots up to the Windows XP logo, but then shuts down and
restarts.. over and over and over. The only way to get it
to stop this cycle is to turn the computer off. I have
tried telling it to boot to safe mode, last known good
configuration, and normally but all give the same
results. What could have happened to cause this and any
ideas on how to fix it????? Thanks in advance for all
help!!

THis happens quite often believe it or not. There are some
ways to fix it. Most people just insert the XP cd and run
repair from the setup. That usually works. this usually
occurs due to the SP1 pack from microsoft, due to the fact
that it often dinstalls new drivers that are not compatible
with your configuration. I would attmept a system restore.
Normally you should be able to fix it in safe mode though.

Try a repair install. Step by step in the link below, but check out the
warning links before doing the repair.

It sounds to me like your BIOS is shot, the only way to
repair a wiped BIOS is to "flash" the BIOS using an
updated BIOS for your motherboard. Please contact your
motherboard manufacturer for details.
