Windows XP installation on Compaq presario notebook

Hi
I want to install Windows XP on my Compaq presario laptop.
When I insert the XP cd in the cdrom drive and boot the
machine, it gives the following message and remains there.

Boot type CDROM : Non Emulation booting

The cursor keeps blinking and then nothing happens. The
CDROM drive seems to be fine. Please help.

Can any CD boot from this drive.

Do you have a floppy drive? If you do you can make a DOS bootable
floppy. Boot from the floppy then run your XP installation.

You can also try making a DOS bootable CD if you don't have a floppy
drive.

Try http://www.bootdisk.com/ if you need to make a boot disk for your
previous OS. They have great stuff there.
