Windows XP Hotfix - K######

Is there anyway to get rid of the 'Windows XP Hotfix -
K#######' in the Add/Remove Programs? I still want the
updates, but I don't want them to appear in the
Add/Remove Programs. I used to get Q###### and I found
something to remove them (but keep the updates), now, is
there anyway to do that with the K ones?

Thanks IA,
Ryan

You can tidy up the list if you are not longer need to uninstall the
patches. Find the $NTUNINSTALLKBxxxxxx$ folder in the WINDOWS folder
that has the same number and delete it. Then find the related
KBxxxxxx.LOG file and delete it as well (sometimes KB is replaced by
Q). Now double-click the uninstall entry and you will be prompted for
if you want to delete the item.

If you wish to safely remove the "uninstall files" for the
Hotfixes (i.e. $NtUninstallQxxxxxx$ files shown in Windows Explorer)
and cleanup your Add/Remove Programs list, visit MS-MVP Doug Knox's
excellent website for instructions.

Note: Doug's program only removes the uninstall files and Hotfix entries
in the Add/Remove Programs listing. It does not remove the
actual updates.

Remove Hotfix Backup files and the Add/Remove Programs Registry entries

FYI, Doug has just recently updated this utility that now allows selective
deletions.
