Hello everyone!
You don't know how happy I am that finally my internet works (at least
partially). I could not get it to work all day and finally after turning it
off and on and unplugging it, it finally works well enough to reach you nice
people.
All the viruses seem to have left my computer, I did a AVG Free check and a
Spybot search and destroy check, they both found stuff I had and now that
seems to be ok.
The only problem is that I cannot get in my Yahoo mailbox, I give my email
address and my password and I get the empty boxes to fill with the above
details again and again. I got fed up, openned a hotmail account and when I
try to access the mailbox, the same story repeats again.
I asked my husband to access it from work and he managed to get into my
yahoo account without problems. On the hotmail account he gets a kind of
agreement between microsoft and me, mentionning an account of some sort, but
it dosen't sound like the usual account agreement you get when first using a
new email adress.
I was browsing through the different problems people have just in case I
could solve mine by reading and someone named Martin L seem to have a similar
problem.
He cannot get to his mail accounts but his internet seems to work fine, just
like mine, although I had a hard time getting to get the reply box.
Is there a way to repair this problem?
I tried to change my password on yahoo but I had that account for so long I
cannot remember the answer to the secret question anymore! It was at least
six or seven years ago!

Hi all of you!
I sure had a hard time reaching you. First I noticed that I could not
access my email account (yahoo), so I thought that I should try to notify the
people whose email adress appears in my account and I tried to open a hotmail
account. I sailed through all the steps but when I tried to access my newly
made account, I could not... In both instances I am sent back to square one,
with an empty page to fill in my email adress and password. When I do so,
The same page keeps on popping up over and over again. So I phoned my
husband at work and asked him to try for me. From his work computer, no
problem, he could open both accounts. So it seems that the problem is still
in my computer. I ran AVG and Spybot search and destroy and also windows
defender and all come up clean!
Following your help (trying all of your suggestions) I finally was able to
change the way the computer boots (could not before as the page ran away too
quick, probably due to some virus).
By the way, I wrote you before but it seems that my post did not make it for
the above reasons either. I could read all of the posts but could not reply.
I'm writing from a laptop my husband brought home from work. No info is
exchanged between the two computers so no viruses can cross.
Do you think that if I reinstall windows xp from the disk, following your
advice Mr Chambers, that it would fix the email connection problem?
I noticed a post that was sent on the 22-08 from Martin L that had a
similar problem as mine.

Hello Marie
Try and close your AV email scanner and test. You will still be protected.
Another thing to try is to go and see if your Firewall is blocking that site. Maybe Zone Alarm or another one
I would 1st try the above 2 steps before continuing
