can someone tell me what folder the registry is stored
in, i had some issues and after being infected with a
virus i had to disable system resotore to fix it. i
exported the entire registry hive and now i need to know
how to restore the registry without system restore
because there are no current restore points.

You can't just copy back a registry you exported (it is a very bad way
to do a backup) as it is in a different format. Look up the method at
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;370545
and once you have a machine that is roughly working again, you can
import the registry back using regedit again.

For a backup of the registry separate from S R I suggest ERUNT from
http://home.t-online.de/home/lars.hederer/erunt
