I have two desktops on my home network along with dsl internet and a d-link
extreme G wireless router. One desktop has been running XP pro since last
year. The other was on 98 SE. I originally tried a crossover cable to
network the two and share internet and a printer. I could never get the 98
SE machine to recognize the XP machine and the printer.
I then installed the router hoping this would solve the problem but no luck.
Finally I installed XP pro on the second machine. At the time of
installation I was able to recognize both machines and the printer. (I
thought I was in heaven)
Since then however, I can no longer get to the network printer from the new
xp machine. In addition, I keep getting a popup saying the network cable is
unplugged. Then a couple of seconds later another popup comes on and says
the local area connection is now connected. This continues back and forth as
long as I'm logged in.
My internet connection speed has significantly decreased as well. I assume
this is due to the network problems.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim
