Windows XP Home in Spanish?

Guest

Hello, I have this simple question, and since its the general group, it
shouldn't be a hassle.
I have downloaded Microsoft software that is encoded to use the Spanish,
language, also, I have copy of Windows XP Service Pack Two in Spanish, but
where can I find a copy of Windows XP Home Edition in Spanish? I have
searched all the web, and no help at all. Also, does anyone know if Windows
Vista will be shipped in Spanish? Or do I have to wait at least two years to
get it in Spanish?
Any comments will be recieved.
Thank you.

No - to get XP in spanish you need to buy a spanish language copy and do
a clean install of the OS.

Ok then, will Windows Vista be available in Spanish here in the US? Or do I
have to go to Mexico to get it?
Thanks

That isn't known yet, but it would be a change in a long policy if it is
available domestically.

It would be nice if Microsoft finally recognised that people do move
around a lot. Even Microsoft staff have to buy foreign-language versions
of software from overseas or imported grey-market versions.

Interesting. XP is available in Spain in Spanish, English and German.

Possibly grey-market imports as in USA. I looked on some of the Amazon
sites in Europe: they will not export Windows outside of their
respective host countries.

I can perhaps hope that with Vista being localization-neutral (ie
English is not the base version), that end-users will finally be able to
purchase or download UI packs irrespective of location. Ditto for Office
and the Proofing Tools. The barriers are not so much technical as
buck-hurling within Microsoft.

Here's one store that sells English, Spanish and German:

It's not even a matter of "out of Europe" (which is not a "country").
Amazon France won't ship to any other country in Europe except Monaco.

Yup. Grey-market OEM (not Retail) CDs. You'll find them in smallish
stores all-over. This one may have a web-presence, but it looks like a
typical shopping-mall single outlet with a large amount of dodgy to
cheap hardware and software that I've seen a lot of in Spain in recent
months.

Um, retail isn't available in Spain except the XP Home upgrade so, the
fact that they are OEM isn't applicable. All the major computer store
chains only sell OEM, none of which are "dodgy" and all of which
activate and pass the WGA.

Don't you mean "generic" OEM?

If it's imported from outside of the intended country, and not sold
through Microsoft authorised channels then it's grey-market. That's
Microsoft's definition (not mine) e.g.

Not illegal, though, and the OEM English and German XPs are legit in
Spain. I wonder who one would call for activation with an English OS in
Spain?
