Dear friends,

My office used Windows 2000 Server as the server, and some
use "Windows XP Home Edition" and "Windows 2000 Prof" as
the workstations.
I want to share a file/folder from one XP computer to the
network. I want to give access permission to only one/two
person but I can't add the user name that I able to give
permissions to the file/folder (like "adding permissions
for specific username in Windows 2000") because the XP
Home Edition used Simple File Sharing as the default.
I've read from the Microsoft Support that we can only
disabled the Simple File Sharing in Windows XP
Professional.
Could anybody help me? how I could shared files/folders
only for one or two persons in the network?

Thank you,
Hansen

You might try sharing a directory on one of the Windows
2000 machines. Then, you would have to be on that
computer to set permissions, but you should be able to set
permissions for individuals.

XP Home only supports Simple File Sharing While there are ways of
getting at some of the security aspects in Safe Mode, this does not
change the underlying position, and in an office net like yours you
really need to be using XP Pro
