Windows XP Home backup

I tried to back up "My Documents" whivh is 10 gigs. I am backing it up to an
external Seagate hard drive which is 185 gigs. I received an error message
stating that I cannot backup more than 4 gigs. What is the problem?

FAT32 hard disk? If so you're running up against the file size limit for a FAT32 drive.
