Windows XP Home: Administrator and Limited Accounts

On a recently purchased PC with XP Home I set up a Limited User account for a
child thinking that this would keep my files (as an Administrator) safe.
However, in logging onto the child's account I could delete my files as well
as Windows system files.

Should this be the case? How can I stop this from happening please?

Cheers

The only case where this could happen (AFAIK) is where the HDD is formatted
in FAT32 rather than NTFS......

Go to Help and Support and search on "convert" (without the quotes)

To prevent other user accounts from being able to access your data, you need
to make your "My Documents" folder private.

To do this:

1) Log on as yourself, right click your My Documents folder, and click
Properties.
2) On the Sharing tab, tick the box next to "Make this folder private", and
click OK.

Note: If this option is unavailable, your hard drive is probably formatted
as FAT32 and not NTFS.

To convert your hard drive to NTFS filesystem:

1) Save and close any open documents or programs
2) Click Start, and choose Run
3) Type "cmd" (without quotes)
4) In the box which appears type "convert c: /fs:ntfs" (without quotes)
Note: this assumes that your hard drive is drive C.
5) Press enter, and answer Yes to the questions it asks.
6) Restart your computer, and the conversion will take place.

After the hard drive has been converted, you will then be able to make your
My Documents directory private, as explained above.

I hope this helps.
