For the past 2 to 3 weeks my computer freezes..and I have to reset it ,when I
check the Event Viewer there are no errors. This happens at any given
moment, sometimes one after another ,sometimes at the login screen, and
sometimes not for a long time ( an hour or two ) and when downloading a file
( not music ) or running a scan (Virus/ Spyware).
I have scannen for a virus and spyware ( microsoft,ZoneAlarm
,Adaware,Spybot) they find nothing but tracking cookies.
computer is cool Temp. wise.
Please Help ?
thanks

Well, are you SURE about the temp? Sounds like temp to me. Did you run a
memtest? Usually, random hangs/resets are either memory or temp related.
For an AMD or an Intel-Northwood (or older) the temp should be LTEQ 50C,
for an Intel-Prescott LTEQ 65C, _AT_FULL_LOAD_; when idle then at least
10C less. Northbridge temps should be 35-40 or so.

Try using memtest86+ to check the ram, run it from floppy and let it run
at least 1-2 hours; overnight is better. It should report ZERO errors,
even one error is BAD BAD BAD.

Thanks for the idea .
I ran a mem. test for over two hours with no errors then it froze up.The
temp. is between 32 & 35 c. I don't think thats too hot !? or is it ?
I have three fans ,two in back and one in the side. An AMD 1800.Biostar MB.

Thanks again
