WIndows XP Extremely Slow

System was running fine until loaded combo
scanner/fax/printer. Now get message "virtual memory
low..." and system runs very slow. Virtual memory setting
was somehow set to custom with only 130MB. Changed
setting to allow system to select Virtual Memory settings
and still received message. Changed to custom with 500MB
to 1,500MB and system still slowo.
 
check for spyware, I know it doesn't have anything to do with your scanner
but its a start.
