Windows XP Explorer Pane flickers on mapped network drives

I have a user who is having the below issues:

he is on xps2 machine is updated on all patches. Tried adding the reg
entries as indicated in the article. Tried disabling antivirus software. Just
looking for some new ideas. Thanks
 
My experience with this is that if there is activity on the Network drive
you will get this behavior. It is because Explorer is refreshing the
information on the Network drive and we see this as "flickering" as you
noted. Again I say this issue is a result of Internet Explorer 6.
