windows xp error msg

I am working with Hewlett Packard as a technical support
agent and one of the customers got this runtime error 424
on his win xp home edition every time he booted the comp.
We just went thru msconfig and unchecked all the options
other than rundll32 and the error was gone. we also tried
doing regsvr32 DAO2516.DLL. But the dll is not in the dll
library of windows xp. So i really donot know what was the
cause of the problem. I also checked out the other causes
for this run time error but none of those fitted on the
customers comp as he had plain win xp and no other
software like visual basic, wordmail etc.
 
there are alot of HP PC shipped with errors on them apon
shipping.
as you dont supply proper discs ( you may do now) the
best thing would be to do a re install of XP.

If there on line, the chance is that they proberly have
worms and such like on there PC.
