Windows XP Embedded Mass Deployment to non networked devices

Hi List,

I have developed an embedded image and I am looking at ways to mass
deploy to upto 200 units using CD/DVD.
(The units are not connected to a network, so net boot is not is not
an option.)

I would like to boot of a CD/DVD and restore the image. I plan to use
the system cloning tool to allow the SID to change on each device that
is imaged.

I am confused on the process to create the Bootable CD/DVD and how to
restore the image. I would like to make an ISO of the Master Image to
restore..

I have seen references to use WinPE and ImageX to do this but I have
not been to find a simple enough example to follow.

Could any point me to some examples of how to achieve this?

Is what I am trying to do possible or should I look at third party
tools such as ghost to achieve this?

Thanks

Stuart

Ghost is probably the easiest method. What about a bootable USB flash disk?
Build an image to boot from the USB flash disk that can install the final
image from IMAGEX / WIM file -

Otherwise, you have to use the Windows Automated Installation Kit

I've used the AIK to build a customized CD, to which I've added a zipped
image and an unzipper. The CD boots WinPE then runs startnet.cmd, which you
modify to prep the HD and unzip your image. Works pretty well.
