hi have an acer aspire 5052awxmi, this came with vista but i decided
to install windows xp. it has windows xp sp1 and i will soon update it
to sp2. im jut wondering where i can find the drivers? and how to
install the drivers? i tried getting them from the acer website but
they do not seem to work (is this because i am currently running
sp1?). all of the vista files are still on the hdd, is there any way
of maybe obtaining thr drivers from the vista files? would they work?

any help would be really appreciated

thankyou

Personally I could'nt find your laptop on Acer site / downloads

No you cannot extract your Vista drivers, in any case they wont be any good
for winxp

The Model is 5052, which is in the 5050 series. Perhaps you searched on
5052? I found the Acer sites difficult to search. Several times I
entered information and then was unable to work out how to move to the
next page.

The model seems to be targeted at Vista and if you decide Vista is not
for you I think Acer are saying they are not interested in supporting
any user who instals Windows XP. Not a very friendly public image!

I'm not the op
But yes in the past I have found Acer site 'difficult'
Allthough Acer appears to have winXp drivers for this sys - if you can work
out which are the chipset drivers :)

I believe also that some Acers sys are only supported thro PC World /
Curreys etc only - not a very encouraging prospect

You became the OP when you asked this question "Wonder why my search of
Acer eu revealed nothing, nor from Aspire current / discontinued"

Yes hardware sold exclusively may not be the right choice. A friend
bought a printer from Curry's, which was a vertical rather than a flat
paper feed and it kept causing paper jams. He had to make a hell of a
stink to get his money back. Had to go over the local managers head.

Sometimes its not made clear that a branded model is exclusive to a
particular shed.
A while ago I bought a branded piece of kit (not PC related) from a shed,
when I had some Q and phoned the manufacturers Tech I was informed that that
model was only supported by the shed, and of course a shed is only there to
repair a broken item & not get involved in any tech setup Q, of which they
havent a clue.
I made enquiries at Trading Standards & was informed it was currently
perfectly acceptible that a Branded Product, Model might only be supported
by the shed that sold it, and not the Brand name
