Windows XP Drive Letter Assigment

How go I get Windows XP Pro to re-assign drive letters?

I have a Desktop computer running Windows XP Pro. This computer
originally was configured as follows:

Drive A: 3 1/2 Inch floppy Drive
Drive C: Hard Drive
Drive D: CDRW Drive

I installed a 2nd hard drive and had hoped to have the drive letters
re-assigned so the 2nd Hard Drive would be Drive D and the CDRW would be
Drive E. However, even though I disconnected the CDRW drive when I
installed the 2nd hard drive, as soon as I reinstalled the CDRW drive
the drive letters got automatically re-assigned as follows:

Drive A: 3 1/2 Inch floppy Drive
Drive C: 1st Hard Drive
Drive D: CDRW Drive
Drive E: 2nd Hard Drive

Now I wish to install a DVD Burner and I would like to be able to assign
the Drive Letters as follow:

Drive A: 3 1/2 Inch floppy Drive
Drive C: 1st Hard Drive
Drive D: 2nd Hard Drive
Drive E: CDRW Drive
Drive F: DVD Burner

How do I force Windows XP to re-assign the drive letters in the order I
want?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

before you post messages on the board be sure to always
check your Help & support found in windows. There is an
answer to your question there.

Open Help & Support;
Type "drive letter" and press search.
Select, "To assign, change, or remove a drive letter."
Follow the easy instructions.

Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Computer Management | Disk

Management under Storage, then RIGHT click on the drive letter to change

and select the Change Letter option.

The drive letter you want to use MUST be available and not assigned to another drive.
