While working on "InAlbum" (a program to put pictures in an album with sounds ) and inactive for a while, I got an error on Windows and I wasn't able to close it the normal way. Now every time I try to start Windows it give me the option to start in safe mode. I tried to "restore" to an early point but still have the same problem. On Event System I got the following message: The COM + Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing. HRESULT was 8007043C from line 44 of: d:\nt_qxp\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\eventssystemobj.cpp.
VSS : Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine CoCreate/Instance.hr=0x80040206
Can you direct me on what to do? Thank you

I have the same problem. In normal modus windows starts loading, but hangs after a while. I'm no in safe modus. I have the same errors that you discribe. I'm not sure - but this "COM + Event" you discribing could come because you start windows in safe modus, but i'm not sure.

I managed to start windows in normal modus once after i removed the "critical windows update" KB870669. But the strange ting is when i restated once more (without doing anything) is hang again... But i have i stonge filling that this problem come from "automatic windows update" -- and that this program did install something 6.July. Windows has done some changes in C:\Program Files\WindowsUpdate directory.

Anyone having the same problem?
