COM+ Event System Error

The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal
processing. HRESULT was 8007043C from line 44 of
d:\qxp_slp\com\com1x\src\event s\tier1\eventsystemobj.cpp. Please contact
Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.

i get this error in my error.log file.

i recently got a new mobo + cpu which was different form the 1 that recently
stopped working. its installed but i can only go into safe mode in windows.
please help me ASAP im in danger of losing information b/c my computer has
been down almost 2 weeks.

please post if you know how to help me. and also if i need to post other
info that i didnt know about please let me know that.

Replacing the MoBo always requires a 'repair setup' of XP.

I got this error 8007043c trying to run "WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe
/wuforce". I had to do a repair setup of XP, but after that Windows Update
would fail continuously with 0x80004002 errors. So I tried to force the WUA
reinstall from the command line but am now getting the 8007043c error.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Until you get out of Safe Mode, you can safely assume the repair failed.
There is no reason to believe forcing some update would be relevant.

Thanks! Actually, it was my anti-virus software that was preventing the
forced WUA reinstall. I turned off McAfee, reinstalled WUA and I can now
install WinUpdates.

thank you very much for your assistance Mark.

i tried to do the in-place upgrade. when i did that my computer wouldnt
even boot into safe mode. so i had to format my C: and start over. i
reinstalled xp easily. only took about 10 minutes on the phone to reactive
windows. its up and running great. again, thank you very much for your quick
help. im sorry it took me so long to reply.
