Windows XP does not recognize a Broadband connection

I do connect to a Broadband (I can see the Ballon 100Mbps)
but none of my programs (Explorer, Outlook, etc.)are able
to recognize that connection.
I've try the automatic recognition and did not work.
I do have windows XP home edition.
any help?
