Windows XP creates new user profile on every logon

I have a Windows XP user that is connected to a Windows 2003 domain.
Everytimes the users logon to the laptop, a new user profile is
created. If he logons 2 times today, 2 new profiles are to be created.
Any idea?

I would check:
1. Access/Share user rights at the file server profile depository.
2. GPO - Delete cached user profiles ...
3. Install UPHclean.... (Error 1517)
4. Status of offline settings...
