Jeff S.

Hi -- I noticed from your system info that you have an
nVidia video card. My system has been freezing since
converting from FAT32 to NTFS and haven't been able to
figure out why. By trial and error, and following up on
tips and hints, and reading posts on this site -- I am
quickly coming to the conclusion that the cause is my
video card = nVidia TNT64 32mb.

Once before I downloaded an XP driver from nVidia.com,
but I guess it didn't 'take'. Tonight I downloaded
another and will install, hoping to eliminate the
problem. If you look over some of these posts [Video
group], you will find 'nVidia' in the subject line.

In fact, just like you, the other night my system shut
down on its own so fast I didn't have time to turn my
head and read the screen. As your problem occurs
w/VCD's, I would say your card is at least suspect. The
shutting down/problems you experience add to my
increasing suspicion that my freeze-ups are due to an
XP/nVidia combination. Think I'll start saving for a
new video card...perhaps one of the ATI Rage models.

Take Care -- Jeff S. re::your system:
