windows XP could not start.

When rebooting my computer I get the following message.
"Windows could not start because the following file is
missing or corrupt. <Windows root>\System32\hal.dll
Please reinstall a copy of the above file."
How do I get that file reinstalled or fix my problem.

If you have a cd of windows xp insert it into the cd
drive and restart your computer and choose the option
start from cd.
