Hi can someone help me, ive build from scratch a laptop (for the second time)
fresh installation of XP Pro Office 2003 virus scanner etc, logged it onto
our domain created a local user so they can use it off line. I have just shut
it down and back on and logged on as the user i created, the green field
screen comes on, the music plays, but it taked about 10mins for the icons to
apear on the screen!! if i double click an icon, it takes a further 5 mins
for the program to launch. Its a standard installation bar giving `C` program
files and the windows folder full permissions. I also added `everyone and
domain users` to the permissons in regedit. Ive had this before but never
have been able to sort it......

help help............

I had this problem with a laptop at my previous job. I had to Open up Group
Policy Object Editor in MS Management Console (Start>Run>mmc Then add
Group Policy Object Editor for Local Machine). Next expand Computer
Configuration>Administrative Templates>System>Logon and then change the
"Always wait for the network...." to Disabled.
That fixed me up... Hope that helps.
