Windows XP Automatic updates

Something keeps disabling my windows automatic updates. Norton internet
security reports this when I switch my PC on. I have run Norton Anti-virus
and found nothing. Has anybody got any ideas what is causing this??

Hi there,

See if your service is started
Check this using START -> RUN
type Services.MSC
Check status of Automatic Updates. Must be set to Automatic and Started.

Check the eventviewer on any messages regarding this:
Check this using START -> RUN
type EVENTVWR


Maybe a policy is applied.
Check this using START -> RUN
type RSOP.MSC
there is an option to view only settings that have been set instead of
viewing all of the policy settings available

It is currently on Automatic and started.However I can guarantee that in a
few re-boots the symptoms will return. Something keeps disabling this service?
