Windows XP and Ultra DMA 100

How do I get my UDMA 100 drives to work in Win XP at the
moment they only seem to be in PIO mode. I have a Gigabyte
UDMA 100 capable M/Board. I have SP installed. I also have
the required 80 cable IDE connecters installed.

I have found some settings in the bios, on my Asus M/B, that can play with
the DMA settings within Windows. You may want to go there to look around.

BTW, some of the settings seemed totally unrelated to the DMA, such as
disabling the built in modem (which my M/B does NOT have). It forces PIO2
mode within Windows. So, I must leave the setting on auto detect! Then I
obtain Ultra DMA 5 mode.
