Windows XP and Pentium D dual core

Ok I bit the bullet and went bleeding edge on a budget. I have XP Pro with
all the updates.. Got a Pentium D 805 a new intel motherboard (D101GGC) on
the cheap from microcenter. And a 1.5 gig in ram (all I could afford). It
is up and running after a re-install that included a disc crash. Seems to be
running faster the task manager automatically started displaying 2 cpu
graphs.

How do I know if it is running efficiently? Are there utilities to monitor
use? Is there a tuning guide for for XP with dual core? Can it be tuned for
specific activities i.e. heavy digital photo editiing?

Is there a site on the web for a dual core/XP user group?

Thanks in advance.

Go to intel.com/downloads/processor/processor identification utility
This gets you alot of info on how its running.Chk intel downloads for that
board. Also, once a hd crashes, its probably thru for good, download the hd
checker from the hd mfg,get the MS-DOS utility, install on a formatted MS-
DOS floppy, boot to floppy, run the tests....
