Windows XP administrator password LOST !!!

G

Guest

Hello,

My query is regarding my operating system,
I installed windows XP prof. some time back in my pc,
I became the administrator, and made another user in it,
The problem is, I forgot the password of my administrator account,
I did not make a password recovery set in it,
neither did I place a hint in the passsword,
Now, this account contains many important documents,
Is there any way in which I could recover either the lost documents or the
password?
I cannot afford to uninstall or format my disc,

If anybody can help me out of this,it would be great,

Thanks,
bobby.

You can boot a live Linux CD and mount the NTFS volumes and recover all
your data.

Try loging on as the first user account you created during the setup.
Then try to change the password of the administrator. Alternativly,
install XP again into a new location. Example, c:\windows-new. Then
copy off your documents onto a flash drive, CD or something else. If
that don't work, you're screwed. Tough titty, hard luck old bean and
chin up.

You may be able to change the Administrator user's password in Windows. Try
the:

Start --> Run
control userpasswords2
OK.

method and highlight the "Administrator" user and click on the "reset
password" button and reset the password there.

If worse comes to worse, you can indeed "hack" the administrators password
using one of the many methods of doing so on the Internet.

Hack your password:

There are tools out there to reset passwords. Here is one of them

Try the PCUnlocker Live CD. Boot your computer from the CD and it enables you to remove the admin password immediately. Here are step-by-step instructions:

That poor guy has been waiting nine years for an answer, we really need
to step things up in this group.

Yep.

On another group some "google group" subscriber replied to an only five
year old message.

To my surprise, the OP was still there!

In a genealogy one I take (somewhat appropriate to this subject I
suppose!), replies to 1999 posts aren't uncommon of late, and apparently
one's been seen to a 1995 post recently.

I think in our case not!

(Having said that, I've been on usenet - with the same email - since at
least 199x, though not in all the 'groups I currently take.)
