Windows Xp add/remove

i would like to know how to remove windows xp from
computer. The problems was that my friend bought a new
computer and it came with windows xp home edition, later
my friend told me that he wants to install xp
professional instead of having home edition, when we
upgrade the windows version, it appears that they are two
types of windows runnig because it says high light which
windows would u like to start and it says windows xp
professional and windows xp home edition. later we though
that by installing a new fresh copy from the xp
professional disc would fixed but there was a problems it
appears that they are two types of windows versions,
professional and home edition. when i press on home
edition which was the old version it doesn't work just
the professional. my question is what can i do to remove
the windows xp the one who doesn't work out of my
computer because everytime we turn on the computer it
doesn't start by them self, we always have to high light
and press enter on the only one which works.can u plz
explain what can i do? if there is no way how can i
install a fress windows without having to differents
versions runnig at the same time? or how can i deleted my
hard drive and make a new one with a fresh copy of
windows? thank u for taking your time

boot from a startup diskette and wait for c:\ prompt. then
go to c:\ drive and type format c: to format the hard
disk. solve ur problme once and for all

start PC with the winXP pro CD and format all drives, then
install fresh to C: drive.

Hi,

Boot into WinXP Pro, start/run msconfig. Go to the boot.ini tab and click
"check all boot paths". You should be prompted to remove the invalid one.

You can also open Windows Explorer and delete any remnants of the original
system folders. Be cautious that you are working with the right folders
(check creation dates to help be sure).

Boot into WinXP Pro, start/run msconfig. Go to the boot.ini tab and click
"check all boot paths". You should be prompted to remove the invalid one.

What may well have happened here is that the second installation was
done as a 'New Install' into the same directory. In that case the two
paths will be the same, and both will be valid.

If that turns out to be the case, go to Control Panel - System -
Advanced - in Start up and Error, click Settings, then Edit. That will
load the boot.ini file into Notepad, and you can delete the line in
[Operating systems] relating to "Home" and the corresponding one in the
[boot loader] section. The two lines in that will probably be the same,
apart from default= at the start of one - delete the other one
