Windows XP Activation

Our family has a new Gateway system that had XP Home
preinstalled. XP Home was later uninstalled and erased
and replaced by XP Pro. I used the XP Home cd to install
on another system. The problem is, the activation window
comes up telling me to activate. I double-click the icon,
and it says "Windows is already activated. Click OK to
exit." It does this whenever the system boots up. How do
I activate (or re-activate) XP Home on this other system?
 
You can't activate it on another machine.

OEM Software is married to the computer it was first installed on.

That means it cannot be installed on your new computer unless it is the retail version of XP Home which I doubt it is because you said it was preinstalled on your gateway system.

You need to get your original product ID code (PID) from your old PC, usually on the side, and enter it into the new PC.

OEM licences for Windows can NOT be transfered from the original OEM machine
to a new one. This is in violation of the EULA

Greetings --

You cannot. The OEM license you're trying to use it _permanently
_ bound to the PC with which it was purchased. It may not be
transferred to any other computer, under any circumstances.
