Windows XP 64 bit CD rom driver installation

When I try to install my CD rom drive under Windows XP 64 bit version the
hardware install program keeps telling me there is no driver available. The
drive manufacturer's web site says the drive uses the drivers provided by
Windows XP and provides no drivers or even a reference to the Windows XP 64
bit version. How do I install my CD rom drives under windows XP 64 bit
version?

You should post to an x64 newsgroup. There newsgroup deals with the x86
version. There are several MS x64 newsgroups. Here is one of them.

Any normal IDE CD drive would be recognized automatically by WinXP
(64-bit or otherwise), and no additional drivers should need to be
installed.

What kind of CD drive are you trying to install? Does it have some
sort of proprietary (unique to its manufacturer) interface? How have
you phyically connected it? If it's IDE and sharing a controller with
another device, have you set the two devices jumpers switches as
specified by each device's manufacturer?

I am having the same issue, my two DVD Roms

(Blu-ray/HDDVD/DVD/CD-LG GGC-H20L Firmware 1.03
and a
TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S203B Firmware SB04)

are the only unrecognized hardware. All my drives are SATA and configured
as AHCI, which is the only issue I can think might be causing this. Any
Ideas?

Yes, try posting this instead to another newsgroup for 64-bit users:
microsoft.public.windows.64bit.general .
