Windows won't start...File missing

When I try to start windows it won't start because it says the following file
is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

how can I repair this??

With great difficulty!

What make and model is the computer? Can you post the whole of the error
message? What operating / boot / restore disks do you have? Was there
any sign of virus activity immediately before the crash?
