windows will not successfully restart

I have recently added memory, as well as an HP Colorado
8Gig tape backup.

Now, when I select restart from the start menu, the system
shuts down and sits in black. It will not restart without
a physical press of the reset switch.

Any relation to either of the above actions? If not, any
other suggestions?

This is Win2k with current SRs installed.
