windows will not start

When I turn on my pc I get the following error :

windows can not start because the folloing file is mising
or corrupt
windows\system32\config\system

it then says it can be repaired using the windows cd rom
but it wll not run, I have a floppy disk but still get
the same error. It will not start in safe mode either or
allow me to restore. Is there any way to make the cd rom
work, any thing ele I can do or any way to restore pc?

Rachel, you have to go into the Bios and set the cdrom drive as first
boot device. Then using the
Recovery Console you can maybe repair the registry. You must have a
WinXP CD.

Use the installation cd and select the 'Repair using

Recovery Console' option. Select the Windows
installation and type in the administrative password. If
there is no password just hit Enter when asked for a
password. Now type in chkdsk /r/f and hit Enter. Hope
