Whenever a friend of mine tries to go into many of his programs but not at
the same time, he keeps getting a bubble in his task bar that reads " Windows
Virtual Memory is low and as a cause windows with close certain applications"

This has been happening for many weeks and it would seem that it does not
want to dissapear does anyone have any ideas?

Does the computer have 128MB of RAM? If so, get MORE! A Windows XP
computer is most comfortable with more than 256MB of RAM for most typical
home users.

When you say 128mb of Ram, would this really matter if he needed more, it is
not as though he is running a lot of stuff or has a lot of programs on the
computer, this is what is baffling us?

If you look at any computer, with limited items running in the background,
128MB of RAM is almost not enough. A typical system bought at a computer
store, that also has several background items, will run around 100MB of
used memory when it's just booted. 256MB of RAM is good if you are only
doing minimal things with MS Office and not any graphics editing, but
512MB of RAM is a great amount for Windows XP.

It doesn't really matter what you run, 128MB is way to little RAM for any
Windows XP computer that does anything more than just booting. Even for
users that run just one program, 128MB is too little.

Many thanks, how do we go about that then? it's Ok when it comes to things
like this i am usually clueless?

You can either install additional RAM yourself, or you can take it to a
computer shop and have them do it.

Since you have not told us what type of computer, model number, or much
else, all I can suggest is that you take it to a shop and have it done.

In addition to what you have been told, if the hard drive is almost full,
that will bring the message too.. the combination of full drive and no RAM
is not conducive to performance at any level..
