I am using someone elses computer at the mo. I'm a beginner. A complete
novice and my lap top is broken. Maybe not broken but I certainly can't even
seem to get as far as the login screen. All thast is showing on screen is
BOOTMGR is missing. Someone help. I've looked on the net for troubleshooting
advice and it tells me to insert my installation disc. I didn't get one with
the lap top as vista was already installed. does anyone know how to fix this
without an installation disc?

Review the documentation that came with your laptop or look on the
laptop mftr.'s website to see how to restore to factory condition.
Alternate paths are 1) call the laptop mftr.'s tech support; 2) take the
machine to a local computer professional if you will need to retrieve
data before restoring to factory condition.

Heleln - As Malke suggests - check the documentation. You did not provide
info about the laptop - make and age. Just about all laptops have a
recovery partition and/or recovery disks.
If yours has a recovery partition you should see something like "Hit F10
to recover...." as the computer initially boots and before your error
message.
