Windows Vista disc defragmenter

When I modify the schedule,then exit, then re enter the schedule next run
says " never " and no defrag is done.
I can still do a manual defrag.
Any idears what is wrong please?

Sorry for bringing this up again. I should have, and did, do a "Search
for..in " which is where I found many answers.
