Hi all, I hope this is the proper place for this thread. Of course - if not
- please let me know of a better one...

Problem - Created WinPE disk (Windows XP latest) with XImage. Created 3
partitions - all NTFS. Installed a "safe OS" of WinXP on 1st partition,
installed Vista onto 2nd partition, and keeping images on third. The
installation works fine (well, as expected) with reboots, playing, etc...
until i backup the 2nd partition (XImage /capture d: e:\image.wim "notes")
and then restore (XImage /apply e:\image.wim d: 1). I'm left with all of the
directory structure, just no files. The boot errors out with 'Missing
*loader.exe (sorry forgot exact name). I have no .INI files in the XImage
folder, so i don't think i've excluded anything. Please help, there are a
lot of people counting on me...

Thanks,

Mark

Yes, I figured it out. I was using an older version of XImage - of which
there are many. As it turns out - I was using one from a WinPE WinXP
(similar) boot CD. I was able to get it working with the newest XImage. It
did, however, require me to change my prebuilt scripts around slightly, as
the one that worked had a different command line parameter structure. If you
are using one that has the restore parameters in this format, it is probably
wrong - XIMAGE /APPLY E:\IMAGE.WIM D: 1.... The one that works is
from Server 2003 and later (i'd just use the WAIK version from now on). The
parameters have changed to XIMAGE /APPLY E:\IMAGE.WIM 1 D: (Note
the placement of the 1).

Hope this helps...
