Windows updates

I can't run the windows updates, I'm getting an error
message "0X800C0005" and the system will not allow me to
proceed.
Any suggestions??
I'm a beginner so take it easy!!

Windows Update somtimes won't work with a firewall, try
disabling any you have, then restart Internet Explorer
(Also, WU doesn't work well with other browsers.).

This Hexadecimal error number suggests that it Cannot locate the
Internet server or proxy server.Disable firewall,antivirus and retry.

I disconnected my router as you suggested but no change,
Any other ideas??

Do not turn off your firewall. He gave you bad advice. As soon as you
turn it off you'll be infected with a worms and other nasties. Windows
Update works just fine through a properly configured firewall.
