Windows Updates

Anyone know what would cause me to be unable to get windows updates. After I
scan for updates I get a message that says "Windows update has encountered an
error and cannot display this page" Teh microsoft fix is to edit the
register and change the value of teh CSD version to 0. This does not fix the
problem. automatic updates to not work at all. This is Windows XP home
version.
 
Have you installed SP2? I noticed that the Automatic Updates in the services
(services.msc at run prompt) has to be running to use the new Windows
Update. At least that's how I got it working.
