I istalled that update yesterday and and a terrible time afterwords. Puter
slowed down and could not get E mail or home page. Finnally it froze up. I
shut down unpluged modem, started a new restore point after shutting updates
off. Then pluged modem back in, after that I was fine. I wonder if any one
else had trouble?

Seems to me that you may have had some nasties on your PC.

The "Malicious Software Tool" is designed to run silently and then go away,
when runs [KB890830] it does so in unattended mode, no EULA is presented to
the end user and no progress window or pop up appear.

After the scan is complete, the tool creates a file 'Mrt.log' that contains
the results of the scan, nothing else remains!

Even though you may have performed a restore of your system, view the log to
see just what happened, you may still have some nasties left: to view the
result:

click on START, then RUN; in the space next to OPEN type in:
%windir%\debug\mrt.log

press OK [or else copy and paste the text above and press OK].

Funny you should mention that, thanks so much, today my norton picked up a
Trojan start page, what ever that is which I know is not good. It got rid of
it tho. Then this evening I talked to my son, he said the same thing happened
in NY to one of his workers, so perhaps it would be ok now to download the
update again. Thanks so much for your help.

Here is an answer to your post. I ran the search the program did run and
found nothing. So now I wonder if I go get it again or just leave it. I have
Ad_Aware SE that I run every week or so. I would appricate your opinion.
