windows update

When I tried to run windows update it loaded new object
in internet settings/view objects ok, but when tried to
run update recieved following error code KB only listed
the code as it related to office 97 or something, can't
phone home no net passport not willing to install it
either. Spent most of my time shutting down all but
essential services for speed. Does anyone have a clue as
following error code

Error number: 0x80072EFD

Thanks for your help. Auto update service and
Background intelligence are running anything else
required?

Thanks Kelly your the best that google thing was right
on mark. Disabled NIS and update ran although not sure how
this will work. Selected notify me when updates are
available for download, but I have already deleted objects
from internet settings/view objects. Is that a problem
when I went back to Windows update it did not try to
download them again.
