If I installed an update on Wed., and on the following Friday I had to do a
system restore dating back to Tuesday, Do I still have to re- install the
same update which was done on Wed. ? Can I just " hide " it ?

You can, but I've had no issues with this update
Something awry with your sys, judging by the number of times you've posted

If the update was labeled "important" or "critical" I would not hide it.
That's like putting a Band-Aid on a festering wound.

In case I had been misleading, I did system restore NOT because of the Wed
update. The update just got caught in the cross-fire.
My question is whether I NEED to install the update Again. If it is not
necessary, I would just " hide " it.

Backups for the system disk normally don't save many of the system
files, if any of them at all. That makes it unpredictable whether you
need to install that update again. Note that if you start installing it
when it's already installed, it could simply tell you that you don't
need to install it again. But that doesn't save the time needed to
download the update again.

The answer is, probably.
Just go to Windows Update and have it look for updates.
If you need one, it will tell you.

If he's using Automatic Update it will eventually get around to reinstalling
the one that System Restore removed. So do nothing.

Just go to Windows Update and have it look for updates.

But if it is a critical update it is better to be protected sooner
rather than later.

Thank you for all the answers.
My setting is " manual updating ", which is why I want to be for certain
whether I should re-install after system restore.
Of course I could just go ahead and re-install when it showed up again.
Question is mainly for better understanding, avoiding misconception.
So, system restore will " remove " previous updates, according to Earle ?
Even those that are labelled " cannot be un-installed " ?

System Restore is supposed to roll your Windows system files
back to an earlier date. So, it makes sense that it would undo
any Windows Updates that were installed after that date.
